Miguel Cabrera leads all NL and AL hitters in latest computer rankings

Bias Free Sports has compiled the overall top 30 hitters from the AL and NL and Miguel Cabrera has a slim lead over Andrew McCutchen and Ryan Braun.  Josh Hamilton continues his spiral downward, now falling to 7th overall.  At the other end, Albert Pujols is now making his charge up the rankings after an abysmal start to the season, and he comes in at number 28 overall.  You can see all the rankings for pitchers and hitters by going to www.biasfreerankings.com.  And if you have any comments or suggestions, please feel free to comment at the end of any of our postings or by emailing me at gary@biasfreerankings.com.

Price, Verlander continue to lead AL pitchers in latest computer rankings

David Price is back on top of the computer rankings of AL pitchers just release by Bias Free Sports. He and Justin Verlander seem to swap positions every week and both have a comfortable lead over the third place pitcher, Felix Hernandez of the Mariners (could he be a Yankee or Red Sox pitcher before the end of this week–I doubt it, but the rumors continue to swirl). The ratings now include the total pitch count (TP) for each pitcher in the rankings, so you can see how much work the pitcher is putting in. For all the ratings for NL and AL hitters and pitchers, go to www.biasfreerankings.com.

Dickey still continues to dominate National League pitching in latest computer rankings

R.A. Dickey of the Mets continues to outpace all pitchers in both the AL and NL with his knuckleball, leading by almost two full points in the latest computer rankings from Bias Free Sports.  Wandy Rodriguez, who appears to have been traded from the Astros to the Pirates this evening, is only the 33rd best pitcher, but fits in well as a number three starter for the Bucs.  I have included the total pitch count with these ratings so you can how much work each of the pitchers have actually gone through this season. This is the complete list of qualified pitchers for the National League; you can see all the ratings for hitters and pitchers by going to www.biasfreerankings.com.

McCutchen leads all MLB hitters, Hamilton falls to third in latest computer rankings

Andrew McCutchen continues his magical season at the plate, leading all hitters in both the NL and AL by almost 1.5 points (a large margin in these ratings) over Ryan Braun.  Josh Hamilton has faded over the past month and now is the third best hitter in all of baseball, according to the latest computer rankings from Bias Free Sports.  You can see all the ratings for pitchers and hitters by going to www.biasfreerankings.com/mlbplayerratings.htm.

Here are your MLB pitch count leaders at the halfway point of the season

Just a different stat for you this morning–looking at the pitching stats and I was trying to see if there was a correlation between total number of pitches and pitcher rating–I was have surmised that a lower number of pitches might indicate a higher rating, as pitchers getting into a lot of trouble during games will throw more pitches.  But Justin Verlander is the top-rated pitcher in the AL and has the highest pitch count in the majors (he also goes deeper into games AND he’s been dating Kate Upton–this guy is a winner for sure).  However, the top three pitchers in the NL (Dickey, Gonzalez, Strasburg), all have pitch counts under 1700, so I think the corrolation needs further investigation.  It will be interesting to see, however, how many of these guys are on the IR before the end of the season.

MLB Leaders in Computer Rankings at the All-Star Break

As we hit the All-Star Break, Bias Free Sports looks at the NL and AL leaders in the computer rankings in hitting and pitching.   A couple of interesting sidenotes in the ratings:

1) Andrew McCutchen not only has taken over as the top hitter in the National League, he leads all of MLB, barely edging out Josh Hamilton.

2) Justin Verlander, David Price, Yu Darvish and Chris Sale have been trading the top starting pitching spot in the AL all season, with no starter holding the number one position more than two weeks at a time.

3) After lurking around the fifth and sixth position for most of the season, R.A. Dickey has lately been dominating the NL starting pitchers, but Gio Gonzalez is starting to close the gap.

You can see the complete ratings for each of the categories by going to www.biasfreerankings.com/mlbplayerratings.htm.
