Tooting My Own Horn

I typically don’t try to shout my own praises, because those who do inevitably have to spend more time defending their own deficiencies, but I was the only prognosticator (out of more than 50) on The Prediction Tracker (www.thepredictiontracker.com) to have accurately predicted the Central Michigan outright win over Western Kentucky.  We’ve had a pretty good start to the bowl season, which probably means we’re due to lose the next 10 games.  You can keep track of all our predictions by going to our web site at www.biasfreerankings.com, or go to The Prediction Tracker to see how our computer predictions stack up with everyone else’s!

Bias Free Sports NCAA Bowl Games Confidence Pool Predictions

Bias Free Sports has run its computer predictions of the upcoming bowl games, and for those of you participating in NCAA confidence pools, we have ordered all the games by the computer’s predicted margin of victory.   For those new to confidence pools, you attempt to pick the game you have the highest confidence in being correct and list that as your number one pick.  The game you have the least confidence in picking correctly you list as the lowest pick.   So with 35 bowl games, if your top game is correct, you get 35 points, and the lowest confidence game, if correct, nets you 1 point.  How confident are we in the predictions below?  Normally we would feel about 80% confident in the predictions, but we’re less confident in the lower level games such as Michigan State-TCU or Clemson-LSU.  In any event, feel free to use these picks below as a guide, and if you have any questions, feel free to email me at gary@biasfreerankings.com or go to our free web site at www.biasfreerankings.com.

AJ McCarron Final Leader in NCAA QB Ratings

Below are the final computer ratings for NCAA QBs through the end of the regular season from Bias Free Sports.  Note that these rankings are for QBs with at least 100 attempts during the season.  AJ McCarron of Alabama just edged out David Fales of San Jose State.  Front-running Heisman candidate Johnny Manziel finished 19th.  How did this happen, you ask?  Primarily because he was lower statistically in almost every passing category.  But remember, this rating only measures the passing categories, and Manziel ran for almost 1200 yards and 19 TD’s.  If you were to combine rushing totals in with passing numbers, Manziel and Collin Klein would be running pretty much 1-2 in the ratings.

Bias Free Sports NCAA Football Picks for Week 14

As we head into the final week of the season (other than for the Army-Navy game), we have seen a lot of interesting storylines this season, such as Notre Dame returning to glory, the SEC continuing its NCAA football domination, and a freshman who will likely win the Heisman.  When the bowl games arrive, we’ll do more in-depth analysis of each bowl game and put it on our web site (free, as always).  For now, here are this week’s computer predictions from Bias Free Sports (and while the computer is picking Alabama to win by just under 4 points–yours truly thinks Alabama is ripe for an upset and that Georgia will win by a touchdown).  Good luck to everyone this weekend!
